The Sr. Accounting Manager will own key accounting processes that deliver accurate and timely accounting information for US Foods. Will provide day to day oversight of staff and champion the implementation of group initiatives, effective operation of internal controls and process improvements. Act as liaison with internal and external auditors and other third parties.

New Ways of Work: This position has been segmented as "Blended" meaning there is a combination of onsite and remote work.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting teams to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of financial results for internal and external (SEC) reporting requirements through a robust monthly/quarterly close process.

  • Supervise your team, including assessing talent, recruiting and developing individuals to their full capabilities

  • Facilitate a team environment of process improvement and ownership of assigned responsibilities.

  • Review analysis of assigned areas and partner with functional leaders and field operations to ensure timely and accurate accounting, planning and related analysis.

  • Lead and coordinate accounting research and analysis related to complex transactions and projects, ensuring proper and timely accounting positions are established in accordance with GAAP, SEC and tax requirements.

  • Drive the SOX efforts in assigned areas ensuring prudent compliance and work with internal and external auditors as required. Proactively assess impact to company operations and actively coordinate with other impacted areas to provide appropriate control environment.

  • Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, Treasury and M&A teams around compliance, valuations, acquisitions, and divestitures.

  • Design, document and implement financial controls, policies and procedures in response to changing regulations and/or business practices, ensuring consistent systems, processes related to units of account and valuations over related activities.

  • Review analysis on key business drivers and leading indicators utilizing appropriate statistical capabilities available in current financial systems.

  • Develop executive level presentations and communicates recommendations to gain alignment across functions and operations on strategic decisions and projects to meet company objectives.

  • Champion the values and behaviors of the Company Cultural Beliefs

  • Other duties as assigned by manager


Supervision:

  • Four direct reports; two indirect reports


Relationships:
Internal:       Controllers team, Finance, Executive Mgt., Internal Audit, Field Finance, and other Support Office functions
External:      External Auditors, software service providers, consultants, external actuaries
        
Qualifications:

Education/Training: 

  • BA/BS in Accounting required.  MBA and or CPA preferred.


Related Experience/Requirements:

  • 8 years of progressive relevant work experience; including experience in a public company or public accounting firm, with reporting and leadership experience.  OR 6 years of progressive relevant work experience with a CPA, MBA or MA in finance or accounting required.

  • Public company experience and/or experience in public accounting firm; Big 4 or second tier a plus.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Experience in completing a monthly/quarterly/annual financial close process, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis of results

  • Broad knowledge of accounting principles and practices (GAAP), external reporting and internal controls commensurate with an SEC registrant and related knowledge.

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to effectively work collaboratively and influence leaders and associates at all levels in the organization.

  • Outstanding personal and professional ethical values with impeccable integrity
